Barbecue Cook-Off Volunteer Information

Thank you for volunteering for the 28th Annual Chamber Barbecue Cook-Off happening on Thursday, October 3, 2024 or our PRIVATE Team Night on Wednesday, October 2nd.  Find your name below confirming your scheduled day and time to work.  You can enjoy the barbecue cook-off either before or after your scheduled shift on the day you work, but please arrive on time to work your entire 1 hour and 15 minute shift.  Below you will find a map, a parking pass you can print, and a reminder of our code of conduct and tips to remember.  Thank you for your help making this the best cook-off ever!  

Should you have an emergency or cannot work your scheduled shift, notify Denise at 806-373-7800 ASAP so that a replacement can be found.

Event Map

Below is a map of the event area.  You can drive in through the main blue gate off of 10th or in the gate off of 3rd.  We have an area designated for volunteer and judges parking based on availability, however you are encouraged to park anywhere you can find a spot.  To park in the special volunteer lot, print out the parking pass and place it on your dash.  Volunteers must check in at the gate marked with the RED square below for instructions, your name badge, and your wristband.  Please make sure you have checked in for your assignment prior to your scheduled work time listed above.

Click the link below to open and print a special parking pass to allow you to park in the designated lot.  Please do not share this pass with anyone not on the volunteer list.  If you do not have access to a printer, you will need to show the lot attendant your volunteer email from Denise on your phone.

VOLUNTEER CODE OF CONDUCT
As a volunteer, you are a representative of the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce for this event. 
  • Volunteers are expected to behave in a professional and courteous manner to all of the teams, patrons, staff members, and guests.
  • Volunteers are expected to arrive ready to work at the time of their shift.  Please allow extra time for parking and making your way to the check-in area BEFORE your scheduled shift.
  • Volunteers must be 21 years of age.
  • Volunteers may not bring other guests with them to their shift. 
  • Children are NOT allowed in the volunteer area or to be with you as you work.
  • Only the confirmed volunteers will be allowed to enter the event for free.  All others must have a ticket purchased in advance for $30 or at the gate for $40.
  • Volunteers are allowed to enjoy the food and drinks at the event either BEFORE your shift, or AFTER your shift.  Volunteers should not leave their assigned area for the duration of their shift.  Please make sure bathroom breaks or walking through the event is done outside of your scheduled work time.
  • Volunteer responsibilities may include but aren't limited to:  affixing wristbands to attendees, directing people, taking tickets, or checking for valid ID's.
  • Volunteers will not be allowed to handle cash or credit card transactions. 
  • If for any reason you are unable to fulfill your shift, please contact Denise at least 24 hours prior to the event if possible so that we can find a replacement.
