Apply to be a bBQ volunteer

Picture
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the 26th Annual Good Times Celebration Barbecue Cook-Off.  We rely heavily on dozens of volunteers to help us host this huge event, so thank you in advance for your commitment to serving.  Our guests appreciate being able to enter the event smoothly and in a timely manner, which is why your help is critical to a good experience and first impression of the Chamber and our Barbecue Cook-Off.

Please complete and submit the form below with your contact information and shift availability to be considered no later than Thursday, September 22nd.  Keep in mind, applying is not a guarantee of your shift or time, as space is limited, and priority is given to previous volunteers and members first. Once your application is received, Denise will email you with additional information and instructions.

Please check back to this page often for important updates and instructions coming soon.  But only submit your volunteer form once please.
VOLUNTEER CODE OF CONDUCT
As a volunteer, you are a representative of the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce for this event.
  • Volunteers are expected to behave in a professional and courteous manner to all of the teams, patrons, staff members, and guests.
  • Volunteers are expected to arrive ready to work at the time of their shift.  Please allow extra time for parking and making your way to the check-in area BEFORE your scheduled shift.
  • Volunteers must be 21 years of age.
  • Volunteers may not bring other guests with them to their shift.  If you have a spouse or friend who you want to work with you at the event, they must complete the volunteer application below for themselves.  We will do our best to accommodate special request to work together, but there is no guarantee.
  • Children are NOT allowed in the volunteer area or to be with you as you work.
  • Only the confirmed volunteers will be allowed to enter the event for free.  All others must have a ticket purchased in advance for $30 or at the gate for $40.
  • Volunteers are allowed to enjoy the food and drinks at the event either BEFORE your shift, or AFTER your shift.  Volunteers should not leave their assigned area for the duration of their shift.  Please make sure bathroom breaks or walking through the event are done outside of your scheduled work time.
  • Volunteer responsibilities may include but aren't limited to:  affixing wristbands to attendees, directing people, taking tickets, or checking for valid ID's.
  • Volunteers will not be allowed to handle cash or credit card transactions.
  • If for any reason you are unable to fulfill your shift, please contact Denise at least 24 hours prior to the event if possible so that we can find a replacement.

    BBQ Volunteer Application 2022

Cell phone numbers are required to be able to reach volunteers in an emergency or to provide update either by call or text.
Please note, each volunteer will be required to work one of the above shifts.  Keep in mind, we will need a large number at each shift, so please check all the times you are available and we will assign volunteers where needed, but we will only assign you to work one shift and not all three.  Only checking one time slot of availability may limit whether or not you are selected as a volunteer.  (In other words, everyone can't pick to only work the first shift.)
