Business Council

The Business Council develops, promotes and supports Amarillo and area businesses by presenting a variety of programs, and networking events:

Seminars and Workshops

The council hosts a series of seminars and workshops focusing on specific subjects of interest to business owners.

Amarillo Chamber of Commerce Top Small Business Awards

The Top Small Business Award  event was created to honor and recognize the true “engine” of the Amarillo economy: Small Business.  The 2007 Top Small Business Award Winners are a for-profit business established prior to August 31, 2002 and headquartered in Amarillo , with no more than 100 full-time employees. Success in Amarillo ’s business community was just one criteria used to select the Chamber’s top small businesses. In addition, award winners exhibited a commitment to good business practices, a history of good employee relations and demonstrated service to the community.

If you would like to nominate a business, nomination forms for the 2008 Top Small Business Award Winners will be accepted from May to June 2008.  If you have questions contact John Teague at 373-7800.

Mega Market

This unique event is a proven networking and sales tool for getting business people in contact with decision makers from other businesses. This is a half-day event that begins with a guest speaker and is based on a table rotation schedule. Participants are seated at a table with seven other business people and a moderator. Each person has 90 seconds to present themselves and their company. After each person at the table has a chance to speak, they will rotate to different tables and start again. Participants may pass out business cards, brochures, samples—anything that they chose to help “sell” their business. The event culminates with a “Market After Hours” networking reception.

Perryman Economic Outlook Conference

This annual conference features Dr. Ray Perryman, founder and President of The Perryman Group, an economic and financial analysis firm headquartered in Waco. Dr. Perryman has more than 20 years of experience in economic modeling and forecasting and is considered one of the foremost economists in the nation. At the conference, Dr. Perryman shares his views and a five-year forecast about what’s ahead for the United States, Texas, and the Amarillo MSA.
